SALIDA, Colo.— A collection of original colored pencil and graphite drawings from Buena Vista artist Wendy Wibbens are on display at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) now through Sept. 30 of this year.

As an artist, Ms. Wibbens loves to bring attention to elements in nature that are hidden, overlooked or underappreciated. “Many of my pieces evoke a connection to our five senses, or the memories engaging with those natural elements portrayed,” says Wibbens. “As I work on pieces, I enjoy the memories of walks in the woods, the scent of fall in the air, the taste of wild berries, grass waving and rustling in the breeze, the sound of birds and so much more.”

Ms. Wibbens has been drawing since she could hold a pencil, and is also active in quilting. She has nearly completed a certificate in Botanical Illustration through the Denver Botanic Gardens’ School of Botanical Art and Illustration.

Prints and originals of her artwork is regularly displayed in Buena Vista and Ms. Wibbens routinely participates in art shows around Chaffee County.

HRRMC displays the work of regional artists each quarter, with an emphasis on the Arkansas Valley. Call 719-530-2217 for more information on exhibiting art at HRRMC.
