International Women’s Day (IWD) is on Monday, March 8. UN Women – the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women – has announced their theme for IWD as “Women in leadership: achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.”
Inspired by UN Women’s theme, HRRMC is celebrating IWD 2021 by recognizing women who have made a positive impact in our community through their contributions and achievements amidst the challenges of COVID-19—on the job, at home, around the neighborhood, or beyond.
To that end, we are looking to enlist women in leadership roles in our community to create short videos or audio clips nominating other women who demonstrate these qualities. Chaffee County Public Health is partnering with us to help amplify this campaign.
You can participate in the following ways:
- Create a Facebook or Instagram post (extra props for videos!) to tell us who you would like to recognize, and describe her contribution or achievement. Tag her and challenge her to nominate someone else to keep the celebration going. Use the hashtag #IWD2021 and tag HRRMC’s account in your post.
- Create a video with your phone telling us who you nominate and why, and send it to info@hrrmc.net. (Hint: use a link sharing tool if the video file is too large for email.) We’ll share it on our Facebook page on March 8. (Click here to see an example of a video.)
- Leave us a voicemail (around 30 seconds long) telling us who you nominate and why at (719) 530-8203. We’ll feature the audio clips on this page of our website.
Be sure to include your first name and last initial, your location (Salida, Alamosa, Nathrop, etc.) as well as the first/last name of your nominee.
Please share this email with anyone you think might want to join in this “social celebration” — we’d love to see our Facebook page fill up with stories about the women in our community who have helped shape this past year into a more positive one! If you’re not able to participate in either of the ways above, we encourage you to celebrate International Women’s Day in any way that’s meaningful to you.
