The Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Foundation recently announced Kathryn Edgington of Salida as the 2019 recipient of the Dr. William G. Mehos Scholarship. She was awarded $1,250.
Edgington will attend California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. She plans to study biological sciences and then pursue a medical degree.
Prerequisites of the scholarship include a declared college major related to the health care field; attendance at a public school within the Salida Hospital District; a narrative explaining why he/she would like to receive the award; an outline of extracurricular activities; two letters of recommendation; and a copy of the student’s high school transcript.
The Dr. William G. Mehos Scholarship Program began in 2004. All applications are reviewed by a selection committee and scored on pre-established criteria.
The HRRMC Foundation provides the hospital with financial support to facilitate innovative programs and provide state-of-the-art health care services to the Salida Hospital District.
