Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center honored Olivia Bartlett, RN, BSN, of Buena Vista as its
2018 TRAC STAR of the year at a hospital ceremony on Feb. 25. Bartlett was selected in a staff-wide vote from a pool of 10 TRAC STAR finalists.
TRAC STAR is an acronym for the core values that guide employee performance: teamwork, recognition, attitude, customer service, safety, talent, accountability and respect. The TRAC STAR award recognizes outstanding employees and is presented quarterly to three finalists. All of the 2018 finalists were eligible to be named TRAC STAR of the year provided they are still employed by HRRMC.
Bartlett, a nurse supervisor and certified emergency nurse, joined HRRMC’s staff in 2010. According to her supervisor, Lisa Barr, RN, BSN, “Olivia is very meticulous in everything she does. She wants to do the best for patient care all the time. She is a good communicator with all staff.”
The employee who nominated Bartlett for TRAC STAR said, “Olivia provides amazing, above-and-beyond customer service, once sitting with a patient for over an hour listening to and fielding his concerns. She always arrives with a positive attitude and focuses on finding an impactful solution to problems, whether for patients or employees.”
CEO Bob Morasko presented Bartlett with a $1,000 check. A plaque with her photo will be displayed in the hospital café.
Morasko also recognized the two runners-up for TRAC STAR of the year, Danny Gallegos and Dan Evans, both residents of Salida. Each received a $250 check.
Gallegos, a support tech in the Information Systems Department, has been with HRRMC since 2015. The co-worker who nominated him said, “Danny’s smile is the face of Information Systems. No matter how stressful or challenging things are, or the situation is, he has a wonderful attitude about it. Danny does what it takes to get the job done.”
Evans, a certified athletic trainer in the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Center, implemented HRRMC’s athletic training outreach program in 2011 to provide area high schools with free athletic training. According to his nominator, Dan is generous with his time before and after work hours. “Dan takes time out of his busy schedule and home life to help with school physicals and school sporting events,” said his nominator.
During the hospital ceremony, Morasko acknowledged the other 2018 TRAC STAR of the year finalists: Vinnie Okada, Theresa Jimerson, John Dickson, Cindy Smith, Kathy Domjanich, Raven Stubbs and Heather Doran.
HRRMC employees may nominate any of their colleagues for the TRAC STAR award. Each quarter, members of the hospital's Communications Team review the nominations, and then cast individual ballots to determine the TRAC STAR of the quarter and two additional finalists.
