Dr. Robert Hunter, director of the HRRMC Orthopedic Sports Medicine Center, recently presided over the annual meeting of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) in Chicago. Dr. Hunter is the AANA president.
In addition to delivering the president's address, Dr. Hunter was joined at the meeting by his four brothers, who sang to the audience.
The three-day annual meeting featured 86 scientific podium presentations, four moderated live surgeries, clinical-case panels, instructional lectures, and almost 50 exhibitors. According to Dr. Hunter, this year's meeting attracted the highest registration in its 36-year history and the largest number of international surgeons, including a delegation of Italian orthopedists.
The AANA is an international professional society of more than 4,000 orthopedic surgeons and other medical professionals who are committed to advancing the field of minimally invasive orthopedic surgery to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Hunter has held several leadership positions in the AANA, including as president from 2017-18. He is the first orthopedic surgeon from the Mountain States to serve as president.
