Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is holding an open house for three new physicians on its medical staff, Thursday, Nov. 2, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., in the hospital atrium near the main entrance, 1000 Rush Dr., Salida. This event is free and open to the public.
Kathryn Echols, M.D., is a board-certified dermatologist who joined Central Colorado Dermatology in Salida in April. Dr. Echols earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed an internship with The Colorado Health Foundation, and a residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Echols also completed a fellowship in dermatopathology at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Amy Hills, M.D., joined the HRRMC Buena Vista Health Center as a board-certified family medicine provider in September. Dr. Hills earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and completed her internship and residency in family medicine with St. Mary’s Family Medicine in Grand Junction. After completing a clinical rotation with Mountain Medical Center in Buena Vista during her residency, she decided that she wanted to practice medicine in a rural mountain town.
Wendy Oatis, M.D., J.D., is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. She officially joined HRRMC Oncology Services in May, but has provided coverage at HRRMC since August 2016. Dr. Oatis graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland, and a fellowship in medical oncology and hematology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. In addition to her medical training, Dr. Oatis has a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. She practiced law for 11 years in Washington, D.C., before attending medical school.
