Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center has added two physicians to the medical staff. Claud Bays, M.D., will provide hospitalist coverage and Kendall Lee, M.D., will provide services in the emergency department.
Dr. Bays, a board-certified internist who specializes in geriatric medicine, will join HRRMC's hospitalist team and will see inpatients who do not have a local primary care provider or whose PCP has requested the hospitalist follow their patient while hospitalized. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington. He then completed a residency in psychiatry at the University of Kentucky followed by a residency in internal medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in Denver.
Dr. Bays has been practicing as a hospitalist since 2008. In addition to HRRMC, he provides coverage at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson.
Dr. Lee is board-certified in emergency medicine and provides coverage in the HRRMC Emergency Department. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston and completed a residency in emergency medicine at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago.
Dr. Lee and his family relocated to Salida from Australia where he had practiced as an emergency medicine specialist since 2012. Prior to his time in Australia, Dr. Lee provided emergency medicine at several hospitals and clinics in New Mexico. He also served as medical director for TriState CareFlight, LLC in Arizona as well as several fire and police departments in the Southwest.
