HRRMC Delnay Guest House
The HRRMC Delnay Guest House will offer temporary housing on HRRMC's campus. Delnay Guest House will consist of 10 fully-furnished units with 1 or 2 bedrooms. Four hospitality units will be available for charitable, overnight lodging for HRRMC and home health patients, caregivers or family members, as well as hospice patient’s family members who are traveling over 30 miles to Salida. Six units will provide HRRMC employees with affordable rentals for short-term use, while they seek more permanent housing in the area.
Construction for the HRRMC Delnay Guest House will start in February 2024 and was made possible due to a generous $1.5 million donation from the Robert and Bernice Delnay Trust. Their donation will cover the majority of the construction costs. Land and site work were provided by the HRRMC Board and the HRRMC Foundation Board has committed $150,000 of the remaining estimated construction costs. The Picie Hylton Charitable Fund will cover operational costs for the four hospitality units.
The Delnays retired to Salida in the 1980’s after Robert’s career as an engineer at DOW Chemical. During their 20 years living in Salida, they realized the importance of a strong healthcare network and wanted to contribute. This funding ensured the initial plans of a “hospitality house” for patients living outside of Salida and evolved to include affordable and available employee housing. Lezlie Burkley, HRRMC Foundation Director said, “This project will benefit our 8,000 square mile service region which includes Chaffee, Custer, (western) Fremont, Saguache, and South Park Counties. The HRRMC Foundation Board and the HRRMC Board of Directors agreed to recognize the donors by naming the project the HRRMC Delnay Guest House.”
