Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center has developed a Certified Medical Assistant Trainee Program.
This program is an eight-week, on the job training course, consisting of self-driven online courses offered through the US Careers Institute, hands-on training with real life scenarios and labs. While going through the MA Program, the student is hired at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center as a Medical Assistant Trainee.
What is a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)?
Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) work alongside providers to perform both clinical and administrative duties in mostly outpatient care locations. MAs are trained for both front and back office duties, such as answering telephones, greeting patients and coding/billing insurance forms. Medical Assistants are a vital partner to the provider. Their back-office responsibilities include taking medical histories, assisting in examinations and procedures, patient education and performing or arranging an array of medical tests.
Compensation:
- Medical Assistant Trainees start at $16.96 hourly, with the potential to earn up to $25.68 hourly, once fully certified*.
- Once trainee is fully certified, they retain the title of Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), and receive a raise in compensation.
- Current HRRMC employees are allowed to transfer years of experience towards the CCMA program.
- $500 sign-on bonus and $500 completion bonus once trainee is fully certified.
- Benefits offered the first day of the month following the start date of employment through HRRMC.
- During the program, the trainee will function in a clinic support role, performing duties such as vitals, rooming patients and various administrative tasks.
Program Cost:
HRRMC will pay 100% of the tuition, which will require a commitment agreement signed by the student to work for HRRMC for a minimum of 13 months once hired as a CCMA upon completion of the program.

- Mileage reimbursed for travel to and from clinical training site
Program Commitment:
The program is time intensive and requires a commitment of 30 to 60 hours per week, including the following:
- Minimum of 12 hours, up to 32 hours of working in the clinic Monday -Thursday
- Minimum of 10 hours of online education on nights and weekends (self-paced)

- Qualified candidates will be selected for interviews with hiring managers
- Candidates that pass the interview process and are selected for employment will receive employment offer letter.
- Internal candidates: You will have to apply through UKG, and go through the interview process. If selected, you will then transfer from your current department to the Clinics department.
